Valentine's Day is right around the corner! My poor classroom has
never seen so much pink and purple...oh well. The kids love it (and,
frankly, so do I). In preparation for next week's activities, parties,
and all out craziness, we made our Valentine's Day bags at school
today. Some people like sending home the responsibility of making a bag
or box to house all of the incoming cards...but I kind of like doing it
at school. This way they are all similar (yet very different) and I
can guarantee that every child will have one (and that the kids are
actually the person that made the box or bag...anyway...that is an entirely
different post). I am also the teacher that is not a huge fan of
templates and patterns. I like giving my kiddos supplies and an
idea...and that's it. You end up getting some really amazing
stuff...and some head scratchers...but at least they did it all by
themselves. This year the Dollar Spot at Target was my best friend.
They had conversation heart stickers, doilies, felt heart stickers, etc.
that I bought to add to our bags. The bags, printed paper, glitter
hearts, and ribbon all came from Michael's (and it was all on sale!).
Here are a few of the masterpieces:
As you can see, they are all quite different. I love them all, but this one takes the cake.
That's right. It's Cupid. L.O.V.E. (even though he is completely naked...except for the belt)
In
addition to the fabulous bags, we have also been "feeling the love" by
writing friendly letters to our parents about love. Let me tell
you...when these parents see these letters...they are going to cry their
little eyes out. Heck, I almost did reading some of them.
Those kids...I just love them.
We have also added some February fun to our literacy center time with this little gem.
And we have this little beauty for your Pre-K kiddos.
Happy Valentine's Day!
